Welcome to Malaysia’s vibrant capital - Discover Kuala Lumpur our host city

The national capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur is also its largest city. Having undergone rapid development in recent years, it has become a popular tourist destination thanks to its fascinating history and growing cultural scene. There’s plenty for visitors to enjoy, from museums and colonial buildings to natural attractions, great shopping and bustling nightlife.

KL International Airport

One of Asia’s major aviation hubs, KL International Airport (known as KLIA) is one of three airports in Kuala Lumpur. Located at the top of the southern corridor of Peninsular Malaysia, it’s approximately 50km from the capital city, Kuala Lumpur, in the Sepang district, and it’s where most international flights fly into and out of Malaysia. Easy to get to from Europe and Australia, most capital cities have direct flights into KL.

Getting to Kuala Lumpur from the airport

The fastest way to travel to and from the city is using the KLIA Ekspres, which takes only 28 minutes each way. Trains depart every 15 minutes during peak hours, every 20 minutes during off-peak hours and every 30 minutes after midnight.

Each train is equipped with comfortable seats, digital entertainment, wheelchair seat restraint, wheelchair-friendly washroom and luggage racks. Check the KLIA Ekspres website for the schedule. There is also a commuter train KLIA Transit, which makes three stops en route and has cheaper fares. KLIAEkspres ADULT FARE: RM55.00 (single); RM100.00 (return)

You can get 10% off if you buy your ticket at a self-service kiosk, from the website KLIAEkspres or via the app

It takes approximately 1 hour to travel by express coach directly from the airport into Kuala Lumpur Sentral – the central main railway station and transport hub that is 2km from the city centre. Coaches start running at 6.30am and finish at 12.30am. ADULT FARE: RM10.00 (single); RM18.00 (return)
