Tim Watkin joined Radio New Zealand (RNZ) in 2016 to create a new podcast unit, after a 20 year journalism career spanning newspapers, magazines, TV and radio.

He has been a senior writer for the New Zealand Herald, deputy editor of the NZ Listener (during which time he won NZ's top journalism award, the Wolfson Fellowship) and for eight years produced TV current affairs shows on New Zealand's two major TV networks.

Since joining RNZ as Executive Producer, Podcasts his team has created more than 40 podcasts, eight of which have gone to the top of the Apple charts. RNZ has won Best Podcast at the NZ Radio Awards two years running and this year won two golds and a silver at the New York Festival of Radio.

Tim is a passionate advocate of intimate, narrative story-telling. He lives in Auckland with his wife, two sons and dog.
